Decorating your home in a country home decor kind of style smacks of wanting to enjoy your home in a simple fashion, not bothered bt modern clean minimalistic styles, rather home comforts memories of a simple lifestyle, natural, perhaps even country living. Having your home decorated in a country style is something that you will probably have thought about for a long time.
In all interior design projects, including in an interior design project featuring a more country home decor style, you need to still work out what you need to make your home look designed rather than just simply a few things drop around to simulate country style living.
The use of natural wood and products that reflect a natural perhaps earthy style is what you need to think about. The purpose of a country home style interior design is to make people who visit your home feel comfortable and at home. Knowing whether you are going to bring the country style throughout your whole house, or whether you are merely going to keep the country feel in one or two areas of the house will effect the cost and the look of your project.
Some materials such as natural wood flooring can be expensive if brought through the whole house, however you can look for alternatives to this flooring, perhaps choosing to use a laminate or carpets that have a neutral, natural fibre, colour and feel. This will help you to keep the rustic feel to your home.
Another way of keeping your home decor in a country/rustic style is to use accessories, wall and furniture coverings and even utensils that reflect a country style. Suggestions you might want to think about when furnishing your country style home is to use light rather than dark woods and perhaps think about wicker furniture.
When thinking of how to cover your walls, whether using wallpaper or just painting the walls, choose colours that reflect the country feel, and perhaps inflect a few stencils with flowers or country scenes, to bring some of the countryside into your home, making it an extension of the outdoors inside.
If you’re not going to used an interior designer inspired country home style for your home, try looking in magazines or around home stores for ideas and insiration. Although those displays and photographs would have been designed by an interior designer, so in truth you will be creating your home based on an interior designers idea of what country home decor should be.
